Finally back to Path of Radiance. more freelance stuff coming but glad to sneak in some time for this. a smart game!

love how it tries to have mechanics really approximate the fiction. the first map with Ike and the Laguz Alliance is best summed up as: "ten thousand jaguars attack 20 spearman."

I shared this on social years ago but a rewatch of The Matrix Ressurections has me circling back to an old Matrix Online roleplayer's Livejournal once again..

the game, it's live events... all documented in-character with tons of screenshots.

What an interesting time for online games!

Done with the gym so it’s time to start the OCTOPATH 0 demo! I’m really interested to see how this works as a adaptation/reimagining of Champions of the Continent.

Such an interesting way to take something ephemeral (a mobile game) and make it concrete.

Checking my Kingdom Hearts discs on the CRT. Looks great!

Will probably start exploring and writing about these days after I finish Radiant Dawn in the next few weeks.

KH1 might be my personal favorite? We'll see! I think it's the one that is the most "RPG-y" at least

A minor Age of Imprisonment thought but one thing really good about this genre (and the beefier tech) is that when stuff starts going south and Ganondorf starts 'dorfing...

the sheer amount of enemies on screen—far in excess of anything from BotW/Tears—sells how BAD things are

lotta moblins!

me: i am fundamentally opposed to the monarchy and the zonai as ruling powers. history is a record of their atrocities

my sage: that’s fair

me: but i love it when the chosen princess reclaims her divine lightblade and leads her army in glorious battle

my sage: who doesn’t

I actually enjoy musou games! Finishing Three Hopes recently as part of the Fire Emblem syllabus was great!

But they don’t always run well (likewise something like BotW) so seeing this game run cleanly on a handheld is like… my lizard brain is like ooooooh

My main Age of Imprisonment thought right now has been “woah one of these that runs at a consistent frame rate”

Picked up a new game today! I think this is the only Kingdom Hearts game I’ve not played before? Should be fun!

Maybe after the Fire Emblem syllabus, I’ll do a KH series playthrough?

Been quietly playing VtMBloodlines 2 and it's one of the most interesting experience I've had in a while.

A curious game! Not really working as an RPG (the systems just aren't there) but I just hit a 6 hour stretch where it embraced the Dishonored DNA that *really* worked for me.

Went to see the Chainsaw Man Reze arc movie today and it's a good time. Dunno how it works as "a film" (structurally this feels thin) but still had a lot of fun. Audience was uproarious!

if you can see this in IMAX, i'd go for that. the sheer BOOOM factor really adds to the experience for this one

I think a lot about how Kingdom Hearts 3's DLC just does the MGS4 microwave hallway scene except with Mickey Mouse.

Late night with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.

as one of those oldheads with a (complicated?) connection to the original, I have to know...

Happily surprised to see that I'm in the credits for Keeper!

This is an industry ~pretty notorious~ when it comes to credits and project attributions and I'm touched that Double Fine strives to include everyone involved along the road.

Nice to see m'self next to these cool folks one more time.

We are watching a friend in the Discord play Road to Empress and brother they just keep giving us the Osmanthus Tea That Kills You.

Speaking of which! If you’re enjoying FFT I cannot recommend Tactics Ogre enough.

It is such a BIGGER and BOLDER game both in terms of the tactics but also the directions the plot takes. Multiple narrative paths through a really amazing story.

S'been long enough from release I think to say that the extra character writing in Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is really great.

If you're not, try bringing folks like Agrias or Mustadio into story fights. There's quite a lot of new writing for this version!

Taking time to play some more 2xKO today. I loved the alphas but never got to play as much as i wanted! It's very fun.

Very happy for the folks I know who had a hand in this one; it's easy to leap in and immediately cause a lot of havoc.

shout outs to Violet League of Legends and her dog

Gonna have another Radiant Dawn write up soon. That stuff is mostly me writing for the fun of it. I've a lot of energy RN!

I've really enjoyed this Fire Emblem syllabus. It's series which can change in some huge ways from game to game.

Excited to try this wonky looking remake.

A very important new arrival popped into my mailbox this morning! Blessed physical media!

Very excited to hit this one up since I've only ever played the Famicom original. Will probably ironman this one.

More words from me. Kicking off this week working with my old coworkers over at Aftermath; talkin' about Silent Hill f!

Let's talk about one of the game's most memorable puzzles. It's about tricking yourself because "did something just move?"

It's also about leaning close and getting intimate...

Tonight's Fire Emblem update: finished Blazing Blade.

Flat out the most *fun* of any of the Fire Emblem games I've been playing as part of my syllabus. This is the best the series has ever looked and there's some GREAT maps here!

Can't recommend this one heartily enough! A great time!

Played maybe my favorite Fire Emblem map ever now in Thracia 776. It's a prison break!

Rushing to open cells and chests, trading folks whatever gear you can get as reinforcements trickle in. Bonuses for getting civilians to safety. So much happening!

Really impressive for a level made in 1999.
