but other times, especially in matters of mere gameplay or structure, leaving expectations behind can be a key step to getting important answers about stuff

I do think player (certainly critics!) have a responsibility to approach art with a certain kind of frankness.

Don't ignore material circumstances but do strive to answer "what is the thing in front of me?" and be careful of wondering "Does it measure up to what I imagined it would be?"

Yeah, I got like a pseudo-Italian extended family stretched from Connecticut and into Rhode Island. My uncle had a little character actor stretch as like ... bartenders and bikers.
