LIFE AFTER is a gripping investigative documentary directed by disabled filmmaker Reid Davenport, looking at disability justice, healthcare, and autonomy, and available to rent from the film team directly on GATHR from Oct 6-13. Thought-provoking and worth the view and ensuing discussions!

Robert Redford was a true movie star and a brilliant director, and at the top of his game he spent his cultural currency to build an institution to foster and support independent film. His dedication to valuing new perspectives and emerging talent will forever inspire me. RIP to a champion.

There is exactly one way to picture that guy.

Rivals (on Hulu). I feel 100% certain it will scratch that itch.

We set stretch goals for #MaxFunDrive this year, what a thrill... please help us get to 250 new/upgrading members so I can fulfill my fantasies of saying "it rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again" PROFESSIONALLY.

This story segment is so genuinely haunting.

Heartbroken that our buddy Alistair Legrand has passed on after a battle against metastatic colorectal cancer. He was kind, mischievous and generous, loved his wife and dogs, and lives on in his work: www.legrandforever.com. Watch The Diabolical (Tubi) or Clinical (Netflix) and enjoy.

This dude is the least healthy person I've seen on TV in a minute. He sounds like he has consumption; it would seem unsurprising for him to be taken down by a Victorian illness.

This week's Staff Pick: GRAND THEFT HAMLET. A silly yet moving documentary shot entirely within the virtual world of Grand Theft Auto by unemployed actors trying to stage HAMLET during Covid lockdown. Something rotten in the state of Denmark now includes rocket launchers and aliens.

I have no need to mock this guy, he's doing what I wish all billionaires would do with their time: make themselves miserable and do weird shit to their own bodies.

I’ve worked with Josh Welsh at Film Independent since 2008; his passing hits like a ton of bricks. A cheerleading boss, a champion of independent film and filmmakers, and a man full of warmth, integrity and encouragement. He would sing out my name every time he saw me. What a tremendous loss.

I wonder if 28 Years Later references that the cause of their entire epidemic was an animal rights activist ignoring a scientist's warning (can you imagine how many thinkpieces we'd be hit with if that were the inciting incident in a 2024 film)
