Right now, don’t we all?

This is an important but overlooked aspect of communicating science online.

Those in web development and SEO have long included alt text for images. Doing so for scientific images and diagrams can open your content and message up to a much broader audience, but doing it properly is key.
If you are doing sci comm but your alt text doesn’t actually describe the cool science-y images you post, you are narrowing your audience in a very particular way.

🧪The 5 stages of grief for trying to finish projects in December:
1. Denial. "I'll finish it all this year!"
2. Anger. "Why's it taking so long?"
3. Bargaining. "Ok, let's just get THIS part finished."
4. Depression. "🙄..."
5. Acceptance. "The rest can wait until January!"

I certainly think so.
If we all find 100 posts to like every day, engagement and good will on @bsky.app grows exponentially.

Is it worth a few minutes to make the platform stronger ?

Crazy stuff in PNAS

dental plaque bacterium 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘯𝘦𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘪 can divide into an unprecedented 14 daughter cells at once—then each daughter cell starts growing immediately in a rare process called multiple fission, achieving 0.5 mm per day of expansion

These mouth bacteria use a new type of cell division to make 14 cells at once
The newfound strategy seen in C. matruchotii might help oral bacteria recover lost territory after each eviction by toothbrushing.

This is #ALS

ALS is slowly losing losing muscle control needed to move, speak, eat and breathe.

ALS is measured in reaching milestones…. like not being able to use your arms & not being able to walk & falling down.

There is no cure for ALS. ALS is fatal.
