Social psychologist concerned about inequality, misinformation, conspiracy theories, and online subcultures. Ethical vegan. Often targeted by trolls; Never bothered by them. Views always my own. She/her/doorknob depends who you ask.
Not one but three snow ploughs/spreaders on my way to work this morning. It’s definitely Winter.

I had the pleasure of listening to my colleague @thorabjorns.bsky.social lecturing my class on the psychology of social class.

Most arresting were her depictions of perceptions of inequality. We vastly underestimate the wealth divide by a huge magnitude.

The wealthiest hold 48.6% the poorest .02%

Discussion with an old friend last night about veganism.

She genuinely thought cows ‘give’ us milk. She did not know the milk was intended for their calves.

She honestly believed cows felt no fear, or pain on slaughter, she thought they were stunned on leaving the truck.

Not stupid, duped.

I attended a beautiful remembrance service this morning. I couldn’t help but notice the lack of ‘patriots’ though? Since poppies, our fallen heroes, and respect is such a strong narrative in their ‘ranks’, where were they? Why did they not venture out in the pouring rain to demonstrate remembrance?

Loved this lecture. Shining a light on all the horrors of intensive animal agriculture and the hypocrisies of those who support it.

Ofc I discussed the trolling I’ve received; and how I’ve both risen above it and used it to promote productive change.

Happy World Vegan Day 🌱

People who give a room of 25 five year olds this sort of thing should be held accountable for their actions against parents and grandparents.

My ears are still ringing.

I made a birthday cake for my five year old Grandson. It’s completely vegan. No compromise on taste or texture. Vegans don’t miss out, they don’t just eat leaves and twigs, but they do protect animals with every delicious bite 🌱

It will never not amaze me that America, the land of the free, is blithely sleepwalking into authoritarianism.

They’re accepting censorship of their media and speech, they’re allowing their education, science, & culture to be destroyed.

Trump wants to be King, and the faithful bow and scrape.

How do we square condoning violence against some groups/people whilst condemning violence within their own group?

Easily, unfortunately. We tend to allow more moral transgressions within our own groups. We forgive people, who share our ideologies, acts which we abhor in others.

My morning juice 🍊 ☀️

Did you know 25% of lower income adults in the U.K. and 40% care home residents are vitamin C deficient? Lack of access to fresh food, smoking, and being male were all indicators.

It’s appalling how cavalier our govts are about protecting the health of the most vulnerable.

It’s my ten year veganniversary🌱

It’s one of the best decisions I have ever made. It’s transformed my entire life and I feel very lucky to be able to make ethical choices, and enjoy the lightness of not feeling internally conflicted.

I’ve picked some of my favourite foodie
pics to celebrate 🌱

We got an allotment and we got food!

More potatoes and beetroot than you can shake a stick at 🫜🥔🫜

Pictured is a vegan chickpea tabbouleh with asparagus, air-fried Charlotte potatoes, a beetroot leaf salad with tomatoes and pomegranate seeds with a herby salad dressing and paprika spiced almonds 🌱

Not quite sure what’s happened in the washing machine but my Marmot soft shell jacket is in some urgent need of, well, reassembly…

Spent the weekend on the beautiful Isle of Gigha for a Mad Ferrets gig. The impact of driving 4.5 hours there and back, plus ferries, in a weekend is now biting.

As are the actual midge bites 🤦🏻‍♀️

Wouldn’t have changed a moment of it.

Amazing and inspirational talk by the one and only Peter Singer at #PHAIR2025 what a start to three days of animal advocacy!

I often wonder about the Miss Snuffy thing too. It’s all quite bizarre. Her blog covered ‘digital detoxing’ and it isn’t at all unbalanced or hyperbolic.

In an extended version of the 40/20 rule, the white van men who needlessly toot at me when I’m out running, only ever do so from the back.

Imagine their surprise to find out I’m actually a 54 year old Grandmother.

Also. How desperate for attention must they be, or power perhaps 🤷🏻‍♀️

And no. I don’t. As already explained. I know ‘of’ ‘several.’

Your continued attempts to discredit are telling.

Ahh I’m blocked. Oh well. Some people just can’t engage like grown ups. Luckily, I guessed as much and screenshotted.

Six islands.
Ten ferries
One land bridge.

The isles of Seil, Easdale, Luing, Gigha, Islay, and Jura.

And all in blazing sunshine. I feel like the luckiest person on the planet.

Complete shit show of a week workwise which has left me reflecting that no matter how much I love and value my job, and my students, and I do, it’s just one dimension of my life and not where my value as a person is defined.

Embracing that I’m now out of office and Hebridean island bound.

Love when people assume vegans miss out on Sunday lunch…

Tofu ‘salmon’ with creamy chive and mustard sauce with lemony crushed new potatoes and steamed asparagus.

Tell me again how sad and bland it is to be vegan 🌱 😉
