Came here to post re: my canceled NIH study section + horrific US govt attacks on science, but also on societal response to this angler fish & how that mirrors often erroneous approaches to animal disease models. Human motivations ≠ animal motivations. If science survives, let's be better. #ethology

To understand the human brain, we often study mice. But how does a mouse brain compare to a primate brain? In a recent study, we developed a quantitative method to compare the brains of different animal species, and discovered a potentially unique aspect of the primate brain.
