Of course there is more to entrepreneurial success than writing good hooks. But breaking the challenge down into bite-sized things I need to learn or master and connecting them back to my big goal has been a game changer for my productivity.

I call it the GAP-ACTION-Formula.

"If [the GAP] is all that stands between me and [GOAL], I can commit to [SMALL ACTION]."

Example:
"If writing better hooks is all that stands between me and my goal of helping 200 PhDs this year, I can commit to investing 5 mins/ post to write a better hook.

So in the past, I would have ignored the advice and tried to get away without making the effort (and sometimes I still am, as you might tell from the "hook" on this post).

But I found a mental reframe that helps me do the work, even if I don't want to.

🪝 All the online-creator-gurus tell you that the hook is the make-or-break point of every post or email you're writing. Ignore it and you might as well not post anything at all.

🎣 And that's the catch: I’m lazy to improve my subject lines or hooks.
