Also a fucked up about getting diagnosed as an adult: You yourself don't know some things are not normal because you expierence it all your life and this definately affects filling out the interview papers.
Like I wouldn't have known I have indeed mood swings when I wasn't set on meds before.

My mom who I have never seen leaving the house not in a hurry because she is too late even when all the clocks are made to be ahead of time for five minutes on purpose and who also only did tasks at the very last second said I don't have adhd because "I'm like that, too"

It's a great cosmic joke that neurodivergence both runs in families and gets diagnosed based on parent reports. I was diagnosed at 30 because a man who has eaten potatoes every day for 57 years and a woman who collects loose buttons decided I was a perfectly normal child.

That's why I say that not all shipping is Romance and I'm not actually a big reader of romance.
Not every lovestory is romance in sense of genre. Some are dramas/tragedies. And that's more my genre. And gothic romance which has its own genre rules

I saw the most bonkers conversation on tiktok where people were arguing that Romance doesn’t need an HEA and authors were fighting for their lives in the comments trying to explain what a genre convention is. Again, trying to sell me a mystery with no crime and see what happens.
God we need more craft discussions and less fights about which tropes are good or bad that play out in a way that makes it clear no one even understands what a trope is anymore.

Unironically scary when so many peoples criteria for "romanticizing" dark subject matter is even just depicting it. Doesn't matter if it's shown in all its realistic darkness, if it's shown as this removed from reality but bad IRL fantasy, or actually said to be good IRL. You can't show it. At all.
