Tonight’s reading. CARBON AND SILICON by Mathieu Bablet.

Absolutely incredible book, following the (long) lives of two robots, and how they navigate a world that isn’t ready for them.

Beautiful art, a clever, intricate story, and some sequences that I’ll be thinking about for quite some time.

Out of this mess, found a little gang, who help keep this old man’s wheels on the track.

I’ve got a note file on my phone with just bullet points of ideas they occur to me. Screenshots from books I read. Anything and everything goes in and eventually something bubbles up I can’t shake. Could be months later.

Then all (!) I have to do is write enough that I can’t bear wasting it.

…and finally, the piece that started it all - a page from Return Of The Taxidermist by Ian Gibson, won as a prize for filling in a survey in the Judge Dredd Megazine way back. That was a very pleasant surprise, for sure.

Have come to the conclusion that Sapphire and Steel work for a small company that was then aggressively bought out by Indigo Prime. Steel took early retirement. Sapphire retrained as a yoga teacher.

My “little engine that could” - I am a bit worried it’s just going to pack in one day.

For typical Craig-like reasons I have a spare of ELON MUSK: AMERICAN OLIGARCH by the superb @acmedarryl.bsky.social

Free to a good home. Register interest by replying to this post and I’ll pick a winner at random next week. Will post outside of UK but you’ll probably have to cover the postage.

I sent a complaint in after that Linehan interview, chiefly about why there were comments from those affected by him, and, why no trans people interviewed at all.

For all the good it did, I’m sure.
