I hadn’t seen “Happy-Go-Lucky” since it came out about 17 years ago, but it’s better than I remembered and easily my favorite of the bunch. I recommend it to literally anyone, it’s a great li’l movie.

I read "House of Leaves" earlier this year and genuinely think it is the best book I've ever read.

I had mixed-negative feelings about “Eddington.” I never rate movies - the scale’s too subjective to be consistent - but very much liked the others for differing reasons.

The millisecond better alternatives materialize, these will be melted down into a hardened plastic wad to be hurled at neighborhood kids. Save the DC Direct Scarecrow in the back.

My current Hanna-Barbera fixation has kept me interested in these, particularly the Alex Toth-designed Legion of Doom members.

G: Velma with Scrappy Doo
C: Ghost of Redbeard ("Go Away Ghost Ship")
UM: Frankenstein's Monster ("A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts")
Many classic ghosts look too familiar to Frankenstein's Monster, hence Redbeard - distinct but maybe not sufficiently dynamic enough.

G: Fred
C: The Black Knight ("What a Night for a Knight")
UM: Wolfman ("A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts")
Again, you've got two visually distinct monsters; the Knight is more upright while the Wolfman is hunched over and, of course, predominately green. Oh, uh, and Fred's there, too.

G: Daphne
C: The Ghost of Capt. Cutler ("A Clue for Scooby Doo")
UM: Dracula ("A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts")
Glow-in-the-dark deco elements on Cutler would be neat. He goes well with Dracula given the two literally share no colors.

Pattern thus far is 1 member of the gang (G), 1 "iconic" monster (C), and one Universal Monster analog (UM).
