iambic 5 for me, but really you could do any random sampling of his works and I'd be jamming regardless

there is a distinct "Pat Bateman and the gang rubbing coke into their gums in the restroom at the night club" vibe to basically everything there, but I struggle to reflect fondly on that era

but it's also something that I can't imagine clicking into place with the rest of the game. the whole point of enabling wholesale murder is it must be a fit for the entire experience, imo, and in most cases it's just off-message

I have to say one of the first games I thought of from the trigger question for this was pathologic. it's a game where everything is already stacked heavily against you and *allies* are such a critical thing that allowing the player to kill everyone... well, y'know, suffering is a kind of drama?

I'm thinking like the blood demon appearance from mgsv. the way the entire game turns against you in undertale. i think these examples are good but academic - those states are grueling to reach and typically the "oh you're a monster" state is much easier to confirm.

yeah, I'm just baffled by the damage I guess. I used swap magic too, but like, my mod was a front panel with a slot for a flat card hook, not a new flip top. I had to drag the tray out but that never did anything like you're seeing. my guess is former owner was just really rough with the swap
November 14, 2025 at 11:21 PM
that is odd- never seen one do that, the few I've fussed around with always had the tray nice and snug
November 14, 2025 at 11:17 PM
interesting. the bay motor did get a little stress with the hook type mod I had, since you're forcing it out. not sure why the disc motor would be impacted with the top swap... maybe the prior owner open palm slammed their discs in or something?

yeah, all things being circular I'm one of the many thousands out of work right now and my experience is very senior so I'm just... doing my own thing, same as you.

I got into the industry as an intern at 29. I wasn't the oldest intern in my cohort. I think internship experience is super valuable but rn actually getting a full time offer is pretty rocky. Don't look at yourself as lagging, try to bear in mind the conditions right now are unbelievably hostile.

it's been said before that the difference between beach rock and metal is minimal and here we see this in e1m1 directly

we had wild blueberries and ...something like an apricot in the fields near the village I lived in. surprised I didn't get sick more often, every little hike I took involved some grazing

similarly when my family lived in Germany I was left to my own devices a lot and many, many life lessons were learned (particularly about which wild fruits are safe to eat or not... :( )

it's so easy to want to be overly protective - because it's so hard to be ready to let them make mistakes, you know?

I think there's something to that, or that we need new parables to account for more modern scoundrels. or somewhere in between
