Music is uniquely positioned to paint a picture of the time period it’s produced in. We feel nostalgia with music because it passively informs us of the time it was made. Today’s music; (everything from the tech used to produce it to distribution tools) betrays the dissonance of global empire.

@vintageobscura.net @vintageobscura.net Today I realized your whole feed is a live track list of what’s playing on stream and that’s dope as hell I want to know how you created that workflow.

Overwhelming to hear about how much the AT community showed up today at IETF. I wish I could've been there.

I'm sure many people deserve special thanks, but I do want to highlight @bmann.ca for helping to get people there. I feel so fortunate to be a part of such a great group of people.

at some point i think one of the companies will start recording sync+track data from dj setups installed in venues and attempt to train a model to do it

and, i %100 believe it's both possible to train the model to do this & that any club which would offer you a non-human DJ should not be attended

Also fun little note. I usually make all the music for my videos from scratch with my modular synth setups. I record straight to sd card via resampling. 😁
Spent the day with Yusuf Abdul Qadir in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. PART 2 in comments!

Yusuf has a long career of designing equitable solutions for connectivity in African nations & is uniquely qualified to speak on the shortcomings of global human rights technology community.

Watch & please share. 🧙🏾‍♂️

If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, @alexhanna.bsky.social and I will be here this evening 👇🏼
I'm going to be hosting part of this in person event in San Francisco along with @alexhanna.bsky.social.

The event is organized by an organization near and dear to both of us, called Respond Crisis Translation, doing front line work which is even more important right now.

🎯 the one gift from the far right going mainstream is that it has given “permission” or cover for a big part of the population to show their true colors. I’m glad we can clearly see where their line is cause mine never changed

People that shit on Bluesky because the “critical mass is on Twitter and that’s it’s best feature”

…the best feature of Bluesky is the ability to rebuild the “critical mass”without the desperate capitalism. Twitter’s best days are behind it, recognize that and demand more for yourself.

However, in recent years with the rise of far right governments digital imperialism has rapidly revealed itself to western civ. I’m fascinated by the disillusionment of western society where previously a veneer of altruistic saviourism once hypnotized the masses.

Planning episode 1 of my upcoming debut into tech journalism as an independent journalist.

Initially I’m focused on process/ consistency. I’m thinking one 45 min ep per week, 4 weeks then revisit format with feedback from folks here on Bluesky.

New blog post! How Streamplace Works: Syndication

Up until now, most Streamplace users have been using one big server at stream.place. With Streamplace 0.8, you can actually replicate streams on your own nodes. Borrowing a term from broadcast TV, we call this syndication. Here's how it works:

Dear AT protocol people: I always strive to work on tech that I think is actually useful.

Long ago I made the mistake of loving comp sci & then going deep on philosophy in grad school.. So I have a neurotic need to work on pivotal human tech. If anyone needs help, I’m here. The nihilists must lose.

Hi butterfly people, I’m highly considering video/audio streaming exclusively to Bluesky & YouTube. I’ll be discussing technology, politics and the future of civilizations.

What are people’s favorite streaming tools for Bluesky and any good folks already streaming that I should follow?
