Well holy fucking shit. Ring cancelled their partnership with Flock. Keep pressure on them to stop volunteering their feeds to state, local, and federal agencies, though, because that part's still going.

Every team building T&S infrastructure faces the same trade-offs. I liked how @vinaysrao.bsky.social put it:

"No single organization has all the answers. Together we can iterate faster, amplify what works, and build infrastructure that serves everyone."

@vaishnavi.bsky.social wrote a great piece on what it takes to build age assurance tech that actually functions to be privacy-preserving and difficult to get around

Every morning, my cat lets me know she’s hungry by cuddling into my side, purring, and giving approximately 10,000 kisses.

She has not figured out the inherent flaws in her strategy to get me out of bed. And y’all better not tell her.

When I say that everyone who runs a website that allows user-generated content is frankly terrified right now about the global legal landscape, I am not exaggerating in the slightest! It is absolutely terrifying! I have nightmares about it!

Right now, if a site doesn't engage in age verification, even where it is not required by law, at least five circuits have precedent allowing lawsuits against that site to proceed if someone under 18 experiences harm due to being shown content produced by a third party.

this lil experiment is 100% vibe coded and probably hot trash but it can serve as a blueprint or proof of concept of how Coop can work with the Ozone moderation service for anyone running their own labeler!

PLS DON'T USE THIS CODE IT'S PROBABLY BAD

@roost.tools also officially launched 1 year ago today. I left the private sector and what some people consider a "dream job" to do something that could create a bigger impact for everyone. Every corner of the internet deserves to have the tech that keeps users safe. This is the real dream for me :)
Today is Safer Internet Day; a day for organizations, companies, schools, and communities to come together for a better internet. In the past year, I've come to believe that "together" can mean something different and powerful: building technology and making it free, easy to deploy, and in the open.
