Let’s say I have a Mycroft Mark I that I pulled out of a closet in 2026. What can I do with it? 🤔

(I also have a Home Assistant server and a couple of Home Assistant Voice Preview Editions…)

It's wild that GNOME web & Firefox are really the only modern browsers that use a non-chromium engine. I refuse to contribute to Google's software monopoly so It's really the only alternative.

I am throwing a Star Wars cantina themed birthday party and am trying to nail down a batch cocktail to serve as “spotchka.” According to lore, it is a glowing blue drink made from krill.

I won’t be making something fishy, but I thought tropical would be fun. Suggestions?

Osprey is a testament to how much impact we can create by sharing technology. @discord.com open sourced their internal rules engine through @roost.tools last year, working with us to generalize the core components so others can easily integrate it

Hehe, I’m having way too much fun with this fossasia.org badge from @fosdem.org. How’s my tiny pixel art @roost.tools logo? 👀

writing documentation and then going over each step to make sure it works and is accurate is rly the best way to get to know something

it's how I learned everything when I was a moderator who wanted to become a PM for safety tools and it's how I learn about OSS now

We’ve just published a deep dive into how @bsky.app uses Osprey to handle the scale of the AT Protocol firehose.

I crashed hard when I sat down on the bed for a bit to “rest,” then woke up a couple of hours later. 😅 I’ll take that as a hint that I should actually go to bed so I make my morning flight.

Thanks everyone for a great #FOSDEM! I had a blast chatting with everyone about GNOME, ROOST, & open source ✌️

Good morning Brussels! I’m on my way to the campus to give a talk about how @roost.tools is bringing open source to trust & safety (and vice versa). We’ll be in AW at 10 AM!

getting to work on osprey a bit was really fun, and super happy to have gotten it in at bluesky. osprey opens up so much opportunity for the atproto ecosystem when it comes to not just moderation but also analytics, custom feed generation, and more. really hopeful that people start building with it!

Why does open source safety infra matter? Because bad actors are already sharing tools & components. It’s time the defenders did, too.

Ystrdy, we launched Osprey V1.0, and we're doing a live demo at FOSDEM. Let us know if you’ll be there and say hi to @annebdh.bsky.social , @cassidyjames.com!

I look forward to continuing conversations about how to keep platforms and users safe with open source solutions.

Wow! This read-along of the NYT moment-by-moment leading to the murder of Alex Pretti should shake everyone awake. He was a Good Samaritan.

Agents fired at least ten shots in roughly five seconds. DHS and Pam Bondi claim Pretti approached them armed and intent on a “massacre.”

On a local neighborhood message board in Colorado. To our knowledge ICE hasn't set foot in this particular neighborhood yet (well outside Denver metro). But they know it's coming.

There are a few MAGAs in the neighborhood but local organizers have already stood up to them previously (and won).

Unsolicited advice for anyone on Bluesky who wants to fight fascism in 2026 - don't stress about following big national accounts.

Instead, follow LOCAL groups and people who are doing actual work on the ground. Join them and do stuff right in your community. THAT'S where the real action is. ❤️💪
