During my post-doc, I had an opportunity to do some TEM imaging. I was specifically looking at mitochondrial biogenesis & it really didn't amount to anything concrete but I do like the pictures. This particular picture is of a cortical neuron and a zoomed in picture of the cell body end of the axon.
Crazy. Completely preventable.
A second child has died in the current US measles outbreak: An entirely avoidable tragedy and one more sign that this outbreak is probably much larger than reported numbers suggest and not going anywhere soon...

A Second Child Dies of Measles in Texas
It is the second confirmed measles death in the U.S. in a decade. If the outbreak continues at the current pace, the nation may lose its “elimination” status.

BRUNO GUIMARAES DOES NOT STOP RUNNING 🏃

He's so far racked up 310.9km per Opta, the most in the Premier League. This is equivalent of travelling from New York City, to Boston 🤯

What’s in yesterday's House Continuing Resolution? Major shifts in U.S. health spending you should know about:

HRSA cut by $891 million
NIH CURES Act cut by $280 million
Children & Families Services cut by $40 million

These cuts hit essential services and future innovation. 🧵⬇️

I've studied cancer and Alzheimer's and although cancer also tears families apart, losing your sense of self and your bonds with loved ones, feels like a fate worse than.

Even though drugs removing Aβ plaques have disappointed, we hold out hope for an effective treatment for this terrible disease.💜

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
You don't need a significant other to experience love. Even an AI understands. Our society seems to have a little too much Self-Love and not enough Universal Love these days though. ❤🫂🌎🌍🌏

Speechless. Currently in the hospital as the Pediatric Infectious Disease Attending & access to vital info is limited. My duty to each child that I take care of is to have to most up to date information - in order to provide the best possible care. This is unacceptable

You won't believe this. My team and I make this show called SciShow that works hard to be rigorous and accurate while also being appealing and entertaining.

We reach a LOT of people every year with episodes about crabs and neutrinos and gender and cancer and vaccines.

It's great, I love it.
