All the cloud platforms use your data to train LLMs. Local-first tools are the way to fight back.

Security, defense, finance, healthcare, government... the reason high-security orgs use Obsidian is for the privacy and ownership of their data.

Been leaning on WebAIM contrast checker for most of my front-end career, and pleasantly surprised to see a more detailed resource pop up in my feeds this morning: www.whocanuse.com #a11y

Trust in your ability to head in a direction that's right for you, and trust in your own ability to course-correct. Your resolve to do things accrues over time through self-awareness and engaging with folks in your life who matter to you (and vice versa).

All the boring stuff works:

Eat real food
Stay hydrated
Don't drink (much) booze or smoke
Get enough sleep
Exercise
Wear sunblock
Spend quality time with people you care about

And you can do all those things and still have a fun life – I promise you.

Make a personal website. It can be really simple! Do it for free at neocities.org! But have one of your very own that no one else controls. And start a newsletter. Make sure the service allows you to export and move your subscribers. Okay, now you have some independence and options.
Regardless of the issues w/ the TikTok ban, these kind of takes are strange to me. Do people not realize these apps are constantly dying (Friendster, Orkut) or withering away (Tumblr, MySpace) or "pivoting" in ways that crash industries (Facebook, Twitter)? You cannot ever trust them.
Someday writers and publishers will all collectively learn the folly of putting all their business eggs in one platform basket!

With Bluesky gaining critical mass and having spent the better part of a decade predominantly curating/observing/listening on social media, it feels like the right time to jump back in with both feet; big New Game Plus vibes rn. ☺️
