AOC: I saw on Fox, Jeanine Pirro says that they found so many babies and two year olds and four year olds receiving social security. I got a notice for you Jeanine Pirro: those babies receive social security because their parents died. That’s not a waste. That’s humanity. That’s America.

My mother had health insurance, but the profit-driven insurance industry failed her. She couldn't afford the asthma treatment she needed.

As an independent family doc making $50 per office visit, as compared to the $500+ per office visit that my colleagues at the hospital-owned practice down the road make, I am already doing this. We need the patients to understand where the money is going (hospital admins, insurance CEOs, PBMs, etc)

We have perhaps overused "your insurance won't cover this without X diagnosis" to our own detriment. Now have folks with a BMI of 24 wanting Ozempic, as well as men trying to fill 30 tablets per month of BOTH tadalafil and sildenafil, thinking there are no barriers, because they are paying cash.

Today, the alcoholic patient, who seems skeptical that his prolonged stay in the hospital was truly due to the complication of withdrawal: "They asked me how many drinks I have per day, and I told them I don't have drinks, because I don't drink hard liquor." Total beers per day? Eighteen.

Paradoxical productivity: weeks of failing to concentrate on charting and results during hours set aside at a desk to do so, followed by a weekend on the couch with cold symptoms successfully carving away huge chunks of the inbox. No idea why sick me is more productive than well me.

Got deeper into a political discussion with a patient today than I meant to. Turns out, some folks think that Social Security is a retirement fund, you should be able to get your money out, and "some other government money" should take care of disabled folks who didn't work long enough to pay in.
