Arborist and snack enjoyer
My dad wasn’t able to take communion for a few years because he married my non-Catholic mom in a civil ceremony. I’d say what Vance has been up to is just a wee bit more sinful than that.

Just got like a dozen flakes in Trenton. Too few to call it a flurry, but I’m counting it.

Does the Director of the FBI typically get a badge? That feels very off to me.

I’ve been eyeing this book for a while but haven’t gotten my hands on a copy yet. I think even among arborists there’s a huge gap in understanding when it comes to tree morphology.

Hell yeah, Jersey suburbs

It could, but with the root’s size you’d do disproportionate damage to the maple. Which might be ok except in this situation that ash tree is probably already doomed due to emerald ash borers (unless it’s being treated), so you might as well let the maple be.

If you know Suzanne Simard’s work, you’re familiar with the idea of trees “helping” each other and sharing resources through their root systems, but here’s a maple giving a big fuck you to its neighbor.

The ash is clearly older than the maple, but it looks to me like the maple root went completely out of its way to encircle the ash trunk, grow disproportionately large, and strangle it.

But this one is a bit more unusual, as the girdling root is from a completely different tree.

I see these all the time, and they usually result from either bad nursery stock (especially with container grown trees) or from buried root flares (don’t plant too deep, and no mulch vomcanoes!). If you see these on your tree, fix them if it’s not too late.

Right, even if you take him at his word that he never heard about it, the question has all of the pertinent information in it!

Watching movies like that is my favorite way to take my mind off of my symptoms of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis

I mean, there’s a reason books and movies have the standard disclaimer that any resemblance to real people is strictly unintentional.

I know ARPA funding was available for schools to improve indoor air quality, but my understanding was that funding was also very flexible. Did a significant number of schools do this, and is there any empirical evidence of improvements several years down the line?

What did the conspirators do, offer them overtime or something?

He, completely unprompted, revealed that he took a cognitive exam given to stroke victims and that he found it hard! (Most of) the media’s like, “no follow up questions, thank you!”

You’d think he’d have plenty of free time to keep up with all these developments while the chamber he presides over isnt in session.

Me asking my young daughter a question on a school night: “are you planning to stay up until 3 am eating candy and watching R rated movies.”

Me to my wife later: “She’s considering it strongly.”

A place opened near me a few years back that served only pickle sandwiches like this. It tasted pretty good, but it was extremely messy and unpleasant to eat. The slipperiness between the pickle and the meat really causes problems and made you appreciate the high coefficient of friction of bread
