Happy birthday!
I am working on crocheting a shawl that I will be donating to the fibre arts guild's fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctors once it is done. www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... - really nice fun shawl and very meditative/easy to memorise the pattern.

The 4 who are being kept at the station as mascots/demonstration cattle/adorable lawnmowers. They get turned back out into the paddock later today, we just needed them to be in a pen and chilling out of the way while we loaded the rest of the cattle.

The frontmost one is George, he is best bubba 🥰

The cattle manager at our current field site and his partner just got a new puppy. Say hello to the new apprentice farm dog! She's bitty and the world is so confusing but she knows she likes cows and she's a Collie mix from a herding line 😁 She's so adorable!

Friday I fly up to see these very good boys again (site mascots) and we finish up our feeding cotton leftovers to cattle experiment next week. It's got huge implications for helping local farmers feed their animals more sustainably and reduce waste from local cotton farms.

Went to Vin Populi again last night in Freemantle and oh god I love eating there. Best GF Italian I've had in ages, bummer it's all the way in WA but what a treat when I'm in Perth! Apparently one of the owners is celiac which explains the bounty of GF goodies. The tiramisu was HEAVEN.

It's so cool seeing how far I've walked every week vs what my Fitbit estimates but also I've walked almost 7.5 THOUSAND kilometres with the app, daaang!

Up in Kununurra again for the Open Day on Monday! I book in what is reasonable/best rate but AVIS keeps giving me bigger and bigger rental cars every time I go up - this one is a gosh dang Land Cruiser. The hood comes up to my shoulders!

Looking to show some Pride this #Ekka2025? Stop by the Queensland Spinners and Weavers booth in the Ag Education hall and take this stunning wrap home for yourself! All proceeds go to supporting the Flying Doctors. Wrap made by yours truly 😁

I love how the portion sizes are nice and big too, there's plenty of leftovers even after I decanter some into bowls to eat now. 😁

The concept of "pet resumes" for rental applications is slightly absurd I admit, but it did give me an excuse to go through all my pics of the cats to find the best ones. Rogue looks like she actually has >1 brain cell and Annie doesn't have her 'resting supervillain face' in these XD

On a "staycation" this week (aka catching my breath between rounds of fieldwork) and while some of it is moving prep (landlord sold my place, moving a few suburbs over) it's been nice to sit and work on learning to crochet! My first proper granny square and I think it looks spiffy!

It was 2022 Werq the World in Sydney - I don't think any videos of that particular bit made it online, but I searched my phone and found a photo! She was amazing, more queens should embrace the cosplay side of things IMO, esp re comic books. It was a great show!

I also finished a pair of socks! Just a plain vanilla pair, yarn is from The Woolly Mammoth in Omaha Nebraska, got it visiting my sister last year.

Shout out to @edidin.bsky.social for getting me hooked on Caoua's patterns, I've got Athos partially done as well and I'm gonna do all the Musketeer socks from that collection at some point. They're such cool patterns!

Knitting progress! Left: Slip it Simple Sock by Christine Long Derks in KnitPicks Hawthorne (a gift from @ana.babylonpod.page )
Right: Aramis by Caoua Coffee in Manos de Uruguay Alegria.

Sock knitting is a great travel/fieldwork project!

Brunch at The Flying Fig in Adelaide! (www.theflyingfigdeli.com.au) Gluten-free Reuben, dirty chai, carrot cake. House-made pastrami, sauerkraut, and horseradish. I'm in absolute culinary heaven 😍. Everything's so delicious! The crystallised ginger in the carrot cake is a nice touch.

So my cats are being boarded at the vet's while I am traveling and the vet's office is also moving to a new building. And Annie is very good at charming extra time out of her kennel from the vets, she is usually very well-behaved and outgoing. But this time....(cont'd)

Look at this gorgeous mantis I saw on the screen this morning! Like 4 inches long, an absolute beauty. Idk what species they are but they're the biggest I've seen in ages. The fieldwork site is out in the bush a bit so lots of wildlife!

Watching the cooking show Secret Chef on Disney+ right now and a chef just made avocado toast latkes and I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED. Just teleport that to my mouth kthx. That looks absolutely mouth-watering, daaang.

Very fun show in general but the way my stomach growled at that photo, wow.

Wearing one of my favourite shirts by @edidin.bsky.social for #transdayofvisibility
Wore it during the CSIRO PRIDE Network webinar where I talked about my experiences as a trans immigrant and updating name/gender in Oz (easy) vs the USA (😱😭🤬).

Thanks Jay for making such a relatable shirt!

Top is humidity, bottom is temperature in Fahrenheit. Never fun when they’re equal. And this is with the dehumidifier on!

Because @sarahwithtea.bsky.social is amazing, she whipped me up this.
Inspired by a discussion @neolithicsheep.bsky.social and I had back when I visited him last year (I forget if it was sheep skull or cow skull he mentioned, it was a while ago). But this is the kind of vibes I'm very down for.
