I think we have entered the age of "AI hammer" hits all nails, followed by Quantum computing solves everything else. This is not unlike the continuous search for things to sequence once major infrastructure investments were made on DNA sequencing. A huge chunk of the US economy is linked to AI now.

Good to chat IRL Jim! AI might help deconvolve some aspects of immune programming (particularly ML approaches to analyse single cell data) but "solving" it so that you can optimally program immunity is a very tall order. AI (and looking at you LLMs) is useless without input from research done by...

Secondly gene editing ANGPTL3 would only be ethical in the absence of an effective inhibitor, as permanently editing this gene even in your liver is a medical lobster trap - you can’t undo it or stop treatment. And guess what - there is an inhibitor lipidworld.biomedcentral.com/articles/10....

That is a particular scientist archetype and it is a universal truth anyone clinging to an idea that hard (to the extent they belittle someone else) has only ever had one good idea in their lives. I am paraphrasing my PhD supervisor who was wise beyond my reconning as a 20 something…

Same in Canada - another social-democracy. Buses and transit are not generally free (although often highly subsidized and/or run at a loss).

Really amazing and impactful study - congrats to you and your team! Just amazing. I have questions regarding fast repair H2AX only breaks vs 53BP1-longer term breaks or “DNA scars”… but those can wait. I have sent your study to my entire lab as a “must read”.

I agree… humans love short cuts and “metrics” (Yelp, Rate my Professor, H-index) - we constantly seek to remove the cognitive burden from everything from choosing a restaurant to hiring someone. Editors are going to love this… a lot of F1000-type labs will adopt and then it is “weaponized”.
