I really cant recommend this game more highly if you want something that will appeal to your grognard dungeon crawlers and your thinky theater kid players. Its rules light but tactics heavy and has a setting that really encourages wacky antics across a wide range of tones

She was never a woman of many words, but since the revelation she had descended into ever longer bouts of brooding silence. He could hear the raw need behind her question. She deserved an answer, an honest one unlaced with the lies they’ve told for millennia. “When you sacrificed yourself to the Plaguefather, we believed you’d accepted the same offer as us. Freedom from the pain in exchange for servitude. We knew you could’ve endured and you only accepted the offer for us, but we believed you were freed as we were,” the equerry paused, wringing unfeeling hands as he attempted to synthesize all his primarch had told him in the past months with his millennia of memories. She had always been withdrawn, but if he was honest with himself there was no shortage of discrepancies in her behavior that did not square with the story he and his brothers told themselves. With the key finally in hand, they took on the clarity of a knife wrenching in his heart, inducing a pain no number of Nurgle’s blessings could numb. “But you weren’t. I see it now. I think I saw it then, as well. For all your stoicism, there was an energy to you. Febrile, I remember the Khan once called it. The poison of Barbarus shone like fire instead of dulling everything like a haze. If baring his twisted soul was what it took to restore them to luminance, then Caipha knew he would bare it all. “You didn’t cure our suffering. You ate it. You took it upon yourself and shielded your sons. It wasn’t the pain of the Destroyer, but it seared your flesh and soul all the same.” “I would make the choice again,” Mortarion croaked. “Every day I wonder if I am betraying the one oath I—” “You are not!” Caipha snapped with a harshness which startled mother and son alike. “You aren’t. And if we had known what you were truly damning yourself to, we would have begged you to let us suffer. Or,” he sighed, “I wish we would have. I can’t undo what’s been done, but I can do what it takes to fix it.” The millennia-old festered guilt of mother and son choked the twisted compartment with silence. My comfort zone:
Tiny fantasy people, preferably with big backpacks.
Four types of adventurers from two different settings. The first row reads: Human fighter, Gnome wizard, Earthen Thief, and Svar cleric. The second row is the same archetypes but they are all humans from The Thief of Tales. Three Earthen (a fantasy dwarf-like people) adventurers. They are listed as an Anvil City artificer, a Thoranic Templar, and a Burrow Lancer. This last one is riding a badger. A collection of ancestries from my fantasy setting. An outdated list of classes from the MCDM RPG, Draw Steel. A fan art because I love their game design.
