I am a huge fan of the #BuyFromEU movement! So far, I've ditched a lot of US stuff already, including Microsoft, Dropbox, 1Password, Notion, Grammarly, Amazon, Slack, and Google.

This helped a lot: european-alternatives.eu

With civilians messing up internal IT systems, president firing staff left and right, disbanding security teams, NOW is probably the biggest opportunity for threat actors to compromise US IT infrastructure.

WhatsApp -> Threema, Signal
Reddit -> Lemmy
Netflix -> ThePirateBay
Twitter -> Mastodon, Bsky
Chrome -> Firefox

Todo:
Spotify -> PirateBay?
ChatGPT -> DeepSeek?

Biggest dependencies left are Google, and then Microsoft. This will take some time.

I used Facebook as authentication provider for some services like Spotify. Not anymore.

I propose to do a TikTok, and let the EU buy 50% of Meta.

A group of people colonize another star will always be technologically inferiour to the home planet.

They neither have the people or the expertise to keep up. And in the time it takes to travel to another star, the home planet will advance, while the generation ship stagnates.

Prediction: OS will get less and less important.

Linux is basically just used as a minimalistic container OS to hold other apps. We could get rid of the OS, and just deploy the App into a VM directly. Like with IOT, with a small OS layer compiled in (like Googles Fuchsia).

I think every company was terrified that if someone else figured out AGI, they'd get left behind. So everyone lit money on fire trying to build AGI. Nobody figure it out. Now they're all left with a bunch of mostly useless GenAIs models that they have to convince investors were worth the money.
I want to dispel a very commonly-held assumption: none of these companies had a plan with generative AI. They threw cash at it because it looked like it might be profitable, and have thrown more cash as it became less profitable because none of them have any other ideas, or plan of any kind.
What ive never understood is what is the end product here? Nobody is paying for this outside of weird computer guys

Are consoles and their awful performance the biggest thing holding videogames back?

Manor Lords shows how a city builder can use UE5 engine, to have realistic models down the screws.

Similar Kingmakers, where we seem to have thousands of agents hitting each other in the face.

Interesting that Trump, and the US population, want to get "prices down" after the inflation. Instead of adjusting salary to inflation

When fascism is on the rise, the smart are the first who leave.

Its fascinating to see what happened in time between 1933 and 1939 in scientific circles of Europe, and especially Germany.

I wanted to find a video of a presentation of mine on youtube. Instead search.brave.com AI automagically showed me a summary of what i was talking about. It is suprisingly accurate.

I wonder if its based on the slides, youtube subtitles, or the vid itself.

Improvements in RedEdr log output reduced detections massively. But Notepad still has calls to MapViewOfSection() and ProtectVirtualMemory() with callstack entries pointing to private or unknown memory. Probably still callstack analysis artefact

Looking forward to a world where i dont have to hear about Trump anymore.

But, the main problem: Its possible that his successor may not be as retarded.

If Russia achieves creating a fascist state according to their own in the US, who will invade to bring democracy back?
