I can’t decide if this is AI screwing up, or Amazon intentionally categorizing movies badly to increase the chances of it being recommended more often

We got to see the Miami U. production of Murder on the Orient Express today

At one point Poirot was described as “the funny little man with the absurd mustache”

I kind of felt called out

There was much cursing, but I managed to repair the washing machine

… and somewhere an engineer who designed washers was just sitting down to dinner when they burst into flames

In fact every single variable in the program is global in scope, but he started the names with an "L" so that makes them local, right?

My boss is now asking me to make changes that were recommended by an AI assistant. The last time this happened the supplied steps were actually impossible.

I so want to quit my job right now.

I think they should reboot the entire film franchise and make it a period-piece set in the 1960s cold-war
If we're willing to not ask questions about what happened to our memories between Die Another Day and Casino Royale '06, we're willing to just move on once you tell me James Bond is alive in the 2030s

the canon has already given us the answer

have faith in the answer or leave it to those who do

A fascinating history of English brown sauces - which I strongly suspect are modern versions of medieval camaline sauce

I generally avoid the Opinion section of the NYT but on the few times I've dared to look, Ross Douthat has shown himself to be an absolute moron
Top Ten People To Never Listen To About Anything: Ross Douthat
The New York Times quickly sending out Douthat to argue that Mamdani’s victory doesn’t really matter is so predictable it borders on self-parody.

Remember, folks: Every time the Right wins an election, it’s an undeniable expression of the will of the people. If a lefty wins, it’s just a blip.

For a while I've been playing around with a retro terminal with a mind towards making some kind of game. It still needs lots of work, but the very basic functionality is there

So ... what functionality would you want/expect from a clunky, obsolete command-line interface?

Doctor's office: "Good news! The x-ray results are back and there's no sign of arthritis or injury."

Me: "Um ... ok, so what's causing the sharp pains in one single knuckle?"

If you have trouble remembering a keyword or just don't like it, use a macro to change it to something else. Future developers will love you!

You know, all told, I feel good about only ever clicking on the Discover feed by accident.

I was really looking forward to Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, but for the theatrical release Netflix has essentially said "screw you" to anyone not living in New York or Los Angeles

I assume there's a real reason behind the decision, but it sucks
