Okay, here we go.

Health & care staff are no longer allowed a Covid booster, but they're still expected to look after COVID+ patients.

NHS/govt is reneging on its duty of care. Staff will become unwell, and patients too will suffer.

You know what to do

This ended up as a long thread, but if it is the final thing I ever write about ATM (it won't be!) I think I can be happy with what I wrote.
Today is the final official day of operation of The Association of Teachers of Mathematics, @atmmathematics.bsky.social , founded in 1952 by a group of mathematics educators that included Caleb Gattegno. A thread:

More eyebrows should be raised at any national conference which proclaims itself to be about mathematics teaching in schools, but is held at a time when the vast majority of mathematics teachers would need to be allowed to stop doing their job to attend
(Not aimed at any single conference)

Following the overwhelming votes by members of AMET, ATM, MA, NAMA and NANAMIC to merge and form the Association for Mathematics in Education (AMiE), we have been working hard in the background to prepare for the implementation of our new association.

Does anyone know if it’s the same for Dr Frost?
My daughter is doing her Sparx and she just spotted the Chrome now offers in-built AI homework cheating (see button at the top right - takes you straight to AI tools that answer the question for you). FFS.

Last repost of this.

To those returning to schools or colleges tomorrow, here’s to a year of doing the best we can for our students, each other, and ourselves. The same sentiment applies if you’ve already started!
I’m going to suggest it is worth checking your school is not affected by this. I know someone who has been told the following pieces of information stored about them had been breached: dob, name, phone number, address, passport, driving licence number, birth town, national insurance number
Exclusive: The names, addresses, phone, national insurance and passport numbers of school staff members may have been 'compromised' in a cyber attack on the IT provider of a firm that maintains background check records for schools

It's that time of year again - your annual reminder that if you're a Maths teacher and looking for suitable resources for your classes across KS3 to KS5 then do check out www.draustinmaths.com. The site is five years old this week 🎉🎉 and in that time it's amassed over 1000 resources! 1/3

Here's the database of those I've created over the past few years. Perhaps you can make use of them in your teaching too?

bsky.app Bluesky @bsky.app · Aug 22
Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.

While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

The rest of the "The use of artifical intelligence in teacher development" article will be coming, but I am delaying publication to allow me to write based on a more thorough re-read & reflection upon all of my communications on the matter. Another article will be published in the intervening time.
