It’s oddly validating as a musician when I show up at the theater at 6pm on a Saturday evening and my phone automatically switches to “Work” mode.

For me, the best part of playing 40+ hours worth of music in a week is the single two-bar passage that just loops in your head for hours on end while you're trying to do other things.

I think Tony pretty well summed up our thoughts on this review… Super proud of the show and how it’s all come together, and yeah, we did get pretty hung up on a line in the review.
The first review for my current show was published yesterday. It's a good review. A shiny silver dollar to the first person who can guess which line of this review the orchestra obsessed about all of last night.

I wholly support the AFM and served on the board for local 424 but if you get them to make a statement outside of a CBA negotiation, you've done messed up real bad.
The union representing the musicians from Jimmy Kimmel’s band releases a statement calling the FCC’s pressure on Disney “state censorship.”

It's refreshing knowing that even in these trying times, I can count on Windows to completely forget that I ever had Bluetooth devices on this PC, even though I've used them basically every day for 5 years now. #ThanksObama

Computers used to scream every time they connected to the Internet. They knew. They tried to warn us. We did not listen.

Another new low (amongst a record-setting race to the bottom)- the SSA is now sending partisan notifications that may as well be campaign ads for the Trump Administration, complete with half-truths, spin, and some blatant lies. Nice knowing that literally everything is partisan now.

Anyone else miss when you could have a question about something, search the web for an answer, and get actual results that were written by people as opposed to AI-generated listicles that are just glorified affiliate links?

The enshittification of the internet-at-large is depressing.

A conundrum, if you will: Do pit orchestras attract crazy people, or do pit orchestras drive people crazy?

Ah, the joys of when your call time the next day is less than 12 hours after rehearsal wraps.

I think “The Little Mermaid” could accurately be renamed “Tremolo: The Musical”.

Fun with the intersection of music and electronics... I've been unsatisfied with the bluetooth page turn pedals on the market, and have designed my own option. Now it's time to add drum pad/trigger support for my percussion friends, so it's time to dust off the oscilloscope!

It’s conspicuous when you haven’t heard any response to a support ticket you file until moments after you cancel your subscription for the service in question. Why, exactly, were you unable to even acknowledge me for the previous month since I opened the ticket? (Hint: we all know the answer.)

Playing a morning show for a school audience is still one of the weirdest feelings as a musician.

The one thing that I think still beats it is emerging from the orchestra pit after a matinee show to discover that it’s still light outside.
