I don't know how much this is actually the intent but I like to headcanon that this is the same guy in two different outfits rather than two different individuals.

Another thing that's kind of interesting to me is how inconsistent the Prince of Midenhall's hair color is? It seems to be brown in his original art by Toriyama, and the artwork for the GBC version goes with this, as well, but he's also been depicted with black and even white/silver hair.

I should mention that the characters in "DB Quest" are drawn as chibis or SD (super deformed). Inspired by Toriyama's early Dragon Quest designs and concept art.

There are a couple instances (like close ups) where they're drawn normally, for the sake of the visual humor or arousal.

2. Dragon Quest

Or basically the Akira Toriyama (RIP to the Goat) art style. I highlighted the DQ series as it was my first proper exposure to the style. And I really love it. Mr. Toriyama really outdid himself! His art has touched so many and it will continue to do so forever!

Chrono Trigger turns 30 today - it first released on this day in 1995. A project led by the collaboration 'dream team' of Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy, lower right), Yuji Horii (Dragon Quest, top right) and Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball, left). Arguably one of the greatest RPGs of all time.

Here's to the Dragon Quest Slimes.

Not to overreact, of course, but the Slime is one of the best designed monsters of all time.

There are many reasons why Dragon Quest is as celebrated as it is, but one of them is the timeless designs of the late, legendary Akira Toriyama.

I just realized how while the Princess of Cannock from Dragon Quest II did have Toriyama art, they're seemingly using a redesign by Naoki Ikushima for her new playable role in the remake, so it's kinda the first core cast member conceptualized in a new art style, marking the post-Toriyama era...
