Our work is centered in human dignity, and we’re proud to use major disability laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, some of the most progressive laws ever passed, as powerful tools to eliminate discrimination - at every intersection.

Make no mistake: This rule would have protected consumers with disabilities and forced airlines to provide a safe and dignified standard. Now, those protections have been weakened or removed. This is a step backwards for accessibility and for disability justice.

Today, the current administration announced they won't be enforcing significant parts of that rule, making air travel less accessible and more difficult to navigate for the more than 5 million American consumers who rely on mobility devices like wheelchairs on a daily basis.

This court order represents a win for disability and immigrant rights. Our client was detained for months at the Otay Mesa Detention Center, where ICE officials failed to provide him with an interpreter, rendering him unable to meaningfully participate in his own proceedings.
