it won’t be like this forever—things have already changed drastically on these fronts for other pathogens in my lifetime. i’d like to see that reality for SARS2, & i’d like to be able enough in my already haunted body to appreciate it, so i protect what i and others have til things really do change.
my genuine answer is that i would consider it over if we had effective pre- and or post-exposure prophylaxis, and or, at the very least, some more consist ways to prevent longcovid. ideally a sterilizing vaccine of some sort, but there are other possibilities. none of these are the case right now.
