I am comprised of:

- 1/3 cognitive dissonance,
- 1/3 mindless goodwill,
- 1/3 stoic introversion,
- 1/3 poor math skills.
"Unfeigned Affection" "Companionable Silence"

Two beautiful concepts that we could all use more of.

Not everyone can fight Trumpism and Trumpists directly. But remember this: kindness, decency, and fidelity to American values are defiance in the face of Trumpism.

So be kind, decent, and faithful, particularly to the many kinds of people despised and attacked by Trumpists. That’s revolutionary./1

The whole point of naming laws after victims is to stampede over the unpopular fact that the Bill of Rights revolves around protecting the rights of the accused
It's really hard to explain to people who haven't spent time invested in criminal law, but laws named after past victims of crimes are almost always atrocious.
The Laken Riley Act is another data point in favor of a small theory of mine:

Any criminal legal law named after a person is a terrible law w egregious overreach.

Erich Fromm said this in 1955, and its truth has only been magnified by the invention of smartphones. (Quoted in Peter Byrne’s excellent biography of Hugh Everett III)

For the last several years I’ve posted this playlist to Twitter. Sort of my one and only Christmas tradition. But I’m done with Twitter.

So here it is. Enjoy.
