There are presumably dozens of stories like this from across government: Mission-critical labs and components that DOGE /Trump officials didn't bother to learn about (or intentionally targeted) where the public will be harmed if they're eliminated.
If we can't do the science showing harm of pollution, we can't protect people from it.
