Scenes from #coastal #fieldwork this week in a long-term #silviculture trial of #redalder, 32 years old. This trial is part of the @oregonstate.edu hardwood silviculture coop. Moss, rain, alder bark beetles, sapsuckers, first wee skunk cabbage, sun, rainbows...we had a mix of it all!!

OMG, get a life!!!! True or not (most likely) what is the friggin obsession with Canada and the relatively meagre amount of drugs that cross the border?! Look after your own house: gun violence, rampant racism, lack of access to healthcare, literacy, ... Large and small issues, you got a lot.

BREAKING: The USDA, under DOGE orders, has accidentally fired staff working to combat bird flu. It’s now trying to rehire them.

It follows the accidental firing of nuclear safety staff last Friday.

And the accidental firing of FAA’s experienced aviation safety staff.

Incompetence will be deadly.

Many areas are seeing record snowfall this winter, thanks to global warming--or rather, global weirding!

How so?

It hasn't been cold enough for lakes other than Erie to completely ice over yet. As cold air sweeps across them, it's picking up moisture and dumping massive snowfall on the other side.

Old friend just laid off by USDA, 1 mos short of his probationary period as senior researcher. Brilliant person who left a tenured faculty position several yrs ago to join USDA. Bright early-career researchers also being laid off. USDA is terminating a generation of highly-qualified scientists.
