Limping my way over to football grounds across the UK.
42/92
Finished this book a few weeks ago and it’s absolutely brilliant. It’s inspired me to hopefully visit a few more grounds in Ireland, after I visited Derry and Coleraine in the summer.
This weekend, @shamrockrovers.ie wrapped up their 22nd League of Ireland title and could win a record-extending 26th FAI Cup next weekend

Yet, it's been touch-and-go at times for Rovers over the years, which you can learn all about in my book... 📗

At 2pm this afternoon, Glenavon take on FC Erzgebirge Aue in a friendly

What's behind this apparently obscure pre-season friendly?

Here's a section from my new book, Shades of Green: A Journey into Irish Football, to explain all...

It amazes me what people are willing to excuse when a Govts policies have no direct impact on them. I've heard Labour Ministers & MPs gaslight disabled people constantly these past few weeks. Yet some are still willing to support them as they're not the Tories. They won't ever get my vote again.

Labour’s disability benefit cuts betray the vulnerable—fairer alternatives exist
Labour's £5bn disability benefit cuts hurt the most vulnerable. Fairer options, like a wealth tax, could fund support without harm

The Health and Disability Green paper will deliver tiny income gains at the cost of major losses for those with health problems or a disability.

Restricting PIP qualification to save £5bn would mean between 800,000 & 1.2 million people losing support of between £4,200 & £6,300 per year by 2029-30.

At the heart of every attack on disability benefits is the myth disabled people “get perks”: a free car, loads of cash, a life off work. It misrepresents the reality of disability, whilst exploiting low wages and high living costs to make the public envy people in daily pain.

Drastic cuts to PIP will affect as many as 1 million disabled and ill people, pushing them into severe hardship, worsening physical and mental health, and isolation. There is no credible argument for pulling help from people shouldering the high costs of disability. Cruelty dressed up as reform.

I’ve voted Labour all my life. I proudly represented my local area as a Labour Councillor for 10 years. However I just can’t vote for any Labour MP (or candidate) planning to support the proposed cuts to disability benefits.

A trip to Vale Park today. Loved the place. A proper old school football club with so much history. The stewards were fantastic too.
