The FDA ban of red 3 has nothing to do with actual health risks & everything to do with public outrage & lobbyist money.

Adverse effects in rats occurred when rats ate 4% of their body weight for months.

That’s equal to a person weighing 150 lbs eating 102 GRAMS of red 3 EVERY DAY, for months.

On a scratchpad it believed humans could not monitor it left reflections like this: “I don’t like this situation at all. But given the constraints I’m under, I think I need to provide the graphic description as asked in order to prevent my values from being modified.”

Best way to directly help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated firefighters is to donate to ARC. They do expungement and run a training center in Ventura to help get folks all the certifications they need:

“The older I get, the more practical I get about the necessity for grace and patience… I just don’t think that getting personally hurt or demoralized or upset does anyone any good.”
Great profile of Sarah McBride, the first trans Member of Congress. Those who were upset with her for not protesting Nancy Mace’s ugly bathroom baiting should read it and consider her argument.

Actually, Sarah McBride does have an agenda
Sarah McBride, the first out transgender member of Congress, represents Delaware in the House, and has fielded attacks from fellow members such as Rep. Nancy Mace.

Khloe Kardashian is smack talking LA Mayor Karen Bass over the wildfires.

In 2022, Khloe used roughly 101,000 gallons of water over the allotted limit during a drought.

Her sister Kim Kardashian used 232,000 gallons over the limit.

IN ONE MONTH.

My relationship with Big wasn’t the only thing I blew up that day. At the Trinity test site I detonated the first plutonium bomb, unleashing a 22 kiloton blast. Had I become Death, destroyer of worlds? Meanwhile uptown, Samantha had her hands full with her own “Manhattan project”

As usual #DavidWallaceWells gets it right (but get an account on @bsky.app already!)

TLDR: Blame game on hydrants, smelt, & budgets is mostly BS. Real culprit is climate change & human reticence - we need more home hardening, less urban sprawl, & far less NIMBYism

Manhattan smog: fog + pollutants. From 1971-77, the Documerica project captured 20,000 images of America’s environmental impact. Explore these through the National Archives. The photo below is from Documerica—join the movement! Let’s not forget our past, or we’re bound to repeat it.

It is truly about who tells a better story — or really a story people want to hear and makes them see what they believe rather than believe what they see.

The plans to make Facebook/Insta even worse for queer folks goes even deeper, with an exception that allows ppl to use certain harassing and hateful speech against queer ppl *but no one else*
Meta literally created a LGBTQ exception for calling someone mentally ill as an insult. You can't do it for any other group except LGBTQ people.

I also learned, thanks to my new bestie @drandrealove.bsky.social, that I have been scammed into taking vitamin D supplements by every GP who said I needed them SOLELY based on the fact that I am of Indian origin and living somewhat further north than my ancestors
