"What looks like Politics is often Subculture" should be printed in billboards and tagged across protest banners.

I find myself often trying to explain this to "normal" people i.e.: those less chronically online or otherwise not immersed in subcultures that feel all-consuming and immersive.
Many have shared this fantastic explainer by academic, Cybele Canterel, on what most people miss re far right culture. Pretending #CharlieKirk assassin, #TylerRobinson, fits into a traditional left vs right paradigm, is failing to understand online culture & its manifestations.

Posting in 3 parts.

I wonder where all the "states' rights but only if it's against kids minorities" folks are. Honestly this gives me hope in at least parts of the US not being absolute hellholes.
IT'S OFFICIAL: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York State, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and New York City have formed the Northeast Public Health Collaborative.

The collaborative will issue their own vaccine recommendations and coordinate public health efforts.

This is so obviously true I cannot understand anyone who thinks otherwise. AC is great when it's historical fiction within the trappings of a modern-day, sci-fi conspiracy
Hello, it's me. I'm here to defend the defend AC modern-day gameplay, for without it, we'd never have had one of the best WTF endings gaming has ever seen, and I unironically think it's a fantastic framing device. I WILL die on this hill.

Microsoft and OpenAI's definition for AGI has nothing to do with intelligence. They simply agreed they'll have reached AGI when they develop a system that can generate $100 billion in profit.

Anyone still buying the AGI hype after this is officially a sucker.

This is genuinely awful and will lead to so much confusion when people’s phones update automatically to 18.2 and their open tabs are seemingly gone

The "starving artist" myth is one promoted by people in power to romanticize the forced austerity of artists and writers -- meaning, to convince creators that being paid less than they are worth is simply part of the expected narrative when it shouldn't be. (See also: the WGA strike.)
The biggest enabler for creativity is stability. I wish that was made more central to the creative narrative. Figure out what your specific needs are to limit stressors and enable "boring" time and work to achieve that as hard as you're practicing your art.
