Donald Trump can fire FTC and NLRB appointees but not the Very Special Boys at the fed, because conservatives like the fed but not the NLRB; he can impound US AID funds and dismantle DOE but he can’t impose tariffs, because conservatives hate the DOE and also hate taxes.

When I first moved to Cincinnati, I knew there was a bus to the city from the airport, but I couldn't find it. The people at the information desk told me where it was and said that it was intentionally hard to find, so people would give up and get a taxi.

No transit agency comes close to funding its operations from fares, let alone capital costs. Cities, which don’t collect gas taxes and in many places don’t collect sales taxes on gas, are even worse; they’re funding things out of property taxes & have street improvements wishlists 10x their funding.
