Intro post since seeing lots of new faces. I’m an infectious diseases physician & researcher, with a focus on urinary infections and C. difficile. Passionate about public health, politics, & healthcare reform. Post about all of the above, plus COVID, life in Minneapolis, & dog pics 👍🏻 Hi and welcome!
Yup. Too many leaders thought “thank God that’s over, and it ended in such a dumpster fire that he’s finished electorally. Let’s just move on and try forget this ugly chapter.” And that’s how we get chapter 2…
A full accounting should’ve happened after Trump‘s first term. And yet nobody even tried. He got away with everything and just laid plans for a second term that would be even worse.
It’s crazy to think about the crimes we’re going to learn about after this regime ends.

We’re already hearing about Watergate level crimes every week. Imagine what will come out after it’s over.

We’re going to need a full accounting of all that’s been done in violation of the constitution.

something i'll note is that if nuzzi ran catch-and-kill ops for rfk jr and lizza knew this prior to him being appointed as HHS, and instead of telling anyone, he decided to save it for his substack long after rfk jr had made communicable disease into federal policy, that's completely fucked

There are going to be prominent Democrats and mainstream media voices who insist that we have to "turn the page" and "forgive and forget" and they should all be roundly ignored, if not mercilessly mocked.

2025 is a wild ride 😳
Trump feuding with Marjorie Taylor Greene but being in love with Zohran Mamdani was not on my November 2025 bingo card

Jesse Ventura knew this. He spoke plainly and succinctly. I remember a debate where Norm Coleman and Skip Humphrey used every second of their time to hit as many talking points as possible. Jesse answered the question, even if took 10 seconds, and yielded the rest of his time.

People liked that. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I think this is emblematic of why #Democrats have had electoral struggles and why #Mamdani was so successful
54% of Americans read below a 6th grade level. Sui generis is like college reading level. Trump and Mamdani for better or worse both know this and talk in very simple terms to their voters
completely outside of politics, this is so charming

It has never been proven that I can’t fly.

Just like it’s never been proven that vaccines don’t cause autism.

No evidence for either, but neither has been proven 🤷🏻‍♂️
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

Peter Thiel and the rest of the tech billionaires are faux Christians while enacting policies (USAID cuts) that have killed 600,000 poor people already. Seems…anti-Christ like 🤷🏻‍♂️

Healthcare in the US is already strained to the max. Removing funding for nursing training (and Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthetist programs, etc) will make it just that much worse
I realized it was only a matter of time for other professions once I heard the professional, moral, intellectual & ethical requirements to be POTUS were completely eliminated. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I remember this promise from Iraq 2003 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️🤬
Bessent: "If something happens down in Venezuela, we could really see oil prices go down even more."

Wakefield lied, falsified data, and did it all without approval from research oversight authorities.

He should have been jailed.

Ron Johnson is too dumb to understand these concepts 🤦🏻‍♂️
GOP Sen. Ron Johnson is crowing about Robert Kennedy Jr.’s CDC pushing debunked vaccine misinformation.

“Time to apologize to Dr. Andrew Wakefield and all the others who were maligned and vilified for simply asking the right questions,” he says.

Wakefield’s paper was *fraudulent.*

The administration is a bunch of xenophobic racists
this defies parody. also helps explain why Sec Bessent bizarrely blamed immigrants when confronted with a question about high beef prices

The contagiousness of measles is truly shocking/remarkable/scary. One case in a guest at a wedding has led to thousands of cases in North America, led to Canada losing its elimination status, and will soon do the same in the US.

Vaccine skepticism kills

I thought lying under oath was a crime 🤷🏻‍♂️
When she gets to Gregory Bovino, she finds him completely uncredible, and says he was evasive or outright lied multiple times across three days of testimony — and not just any falsehoods, he was not telling the truth about multiple things which were all captured on video, making it all very obvious.

“Just travel a bit more and do some cultural exchanges; boom, 9th war solved” 🙄🙄🙄

I hope you’re embarrassed, Yale 🤦🏻‍♂️
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has proposed a "brilliant" idea for how to end the war in Ukraine. And how no one thought of it earlier.

A classic example of why “let’s just compromise” is sometimes bullshit.

One view (vaccines are safe and effective) is correct and supported by data.

The other view is conspiracy theorist fueled grifting.

Let’s not meet in the middle 🤦🏻‍♂️
A horrifying graphic from Pew showing the fruits of the right wing war on public health.

Only 48% of Republicans believe that vaccines prevent serious illness, while 80% of Democrats do.

This is not a difference of opinion in science. This is the result of a ruthless disinformation campaign.
