"...appear to be typical of an investment strategy whereby donors, aided by university administrators and regents, circumvent faculty governance in order to treat universities like incubators or, worse, as click-farms to inflate the user data seemingly keeping the AI investment machine humming."

Revisions can be overwhelming, and I often encourage authors to rank revisions from "critical" to "if-there-is-time."

I also tell authors to write down three parts of the manuscript that make them proud because every manuscript has fantastic parts, too.

Turkish women's volleyball team lost the world championship golden medal in a nail-biting game against Italy, but they definitely aced against the Turkish Internet trolls and their negative campaigns throughout the tournament (esp. on the other site). Congrats for the silver #FileninSultanlari

It is those that try to get the political seats by any means necessary, the ones they believe they are entitled to have, that dismantle democracy. No matter how many times they chant "democracy" in their teams' slogans

Maybe we should write a grant to get a particular writing-ferry going? because the sea very much works for me as well.

@asa-cbsm.bsky.social #contentiousky #CBSM2025 🧵 Some take-aways about protest and social movements. (1) Protest movements have opponents, who will fight back if they lose, things are never settled. (2) You protest when you are in a losing position, of course protest does not always win 1/

I think this might be the hardest point to digest for some folks on the ground 😅 but also the young might think the elders always had it easy, that is why their protest worked in the past 🤷🏻‍♀️(twist on the same it-worked-in-the-past trope)
(5) There was never a past when protests always worked and people are just doing it wrong now. Elders always think the young are doing it wrong. (6) Just because a tactic was successful in the past does not mean it will work again now (see movements have opponents who are not always stupid) 3/

Myra Max Ferree nods at Gamson 's work and argues terrains > playing fields. Encompassing macro institutions and norms so we are heading out to think more about political history #CBSM2025

One of the important take aways from #CBSM2025, as Deana Rohlinger puts it," current social movement theory no longer fully captures the dynamics of political influence in a digitally mediated outrage driven environment."

Writing on the civil society reactions to democratic erosion in Brazil. While there are a lot of positives, I feel like it is too early to dismiss Bolsonarismo. Despite some pundits' remarks and recent polls showing most of the centrists' would love to him drop his presidential candidadcy.
