They also badly mishandled a grooming scandal within their mod ranks. Good riddance

The organization disbanded entirely this spring and the website went dark completely over the summer. Support for AI and mishandling allegations of grooming within their mods

I keep recommending trackbear.app for word count tracking. It's similar to the old nano tracker

I've been really impressed with trackbear.app for tracking

the screenshot above is from nanowrimo2.com, not to be confused with nanowrimo2.org or nanowrimo2.net, which all seem to be different groups trying to resurrect the challenge

I think you might have your wires crossed right now. nanowrimo2.org and nanowrimo2.com seem to be different groups (also nanowrimo2.net)

Someone on Reddit who was involved and then bowed out said Grant was involved and then left when they realized his name would hurt rather than help, but he seems to have very much been involved with this from the ground up right up until they launched and took his name off

I don't like how they're downplaying what happened on the old site. "a moderator shared a bad link" is very much not what happened and with Grant Faulkner's rumored involvement they very much should know better since he received the initial letter and should have been involved in any investigations

Trackbear.app is my favorite word tracker to come out of the split. It has a lot of the features I miss from the old site and includes some features nanowrimo said they couldn't implement. Our local group used it to make a group leaderboard last year to keep pace with each other

I've seen their nano alternatives page. Suggesting users move to the group that split off because they didn't like NaNo's statements about BLM and Roe v Wade tells me everything I need to know about ProWriringAid

They also have a "nanowrimo alternatives" page that includes a site built by a bunch of people who split off to build their own nnwn "built on a Christian and Constitutional foundation." They're really missing the mark this year

Did PWA mean to platform novelquest.org, created by a group of former NaNoWriMo volunteers when NNWM started to go tits up? Did they get confused by the names?

The org started the challenge. Also notably cancelled for the grooming scandal. But the challenge lives on beyond the org since so many people didn't even know it existed

Things are about to get a bit ancient.

I baked these biscuity sherds on a hemisphere cake tin in an attempt to recreate Ancient Greek pottery fragments in all three dimensions. The originals, dating from c.1600-435 BCE, can be found in the collections of the Ashmolean Museum.
