My favourite game of 2024 just got a major free update.

Their publisher imploded in their original release week, but they’ve continually supported the game, whilst working on this. It’s a gorgeous, kinetic and incredibly challenging Metroidvania. (1/2)

I enjoyed listening to this take on @blakemanorgame.bsky.social and the brief dive into other folk horror media.

Hearing someone go on an extended, articulate and relatable tear on a *horrible* sounding game that a lot of people seem to be pretending to like is one of life’s little thrills 🎧
This one's got everything: Dunkalatte talk, Willa's neighbors doing construction, Robin playing a game where you are a little mouse, but the main event is – of course – Willa going on an extended rant about a game she hates that most people love.

It took me 25 minutes to articulate *some* of why this game is good. The ever excellent Flow State did a better job in 4.

The Séance of Blake Manor's two biggest strengths are the depth of its characters and the depth of its Irish setting. Both of these make it a better detective game.

Rage quit a podcast today that was dumping on Nintendo charging $5 for the Animal Crossing Switch 2 upgrade, that in the same breath, said Nintendo should release an AC themed mouse that they would 100% buy.

Made my head hurt.

Haven’t done a straight review episode for a while. I find them intimidating. But…

@spookydoorway.bsky.social’s The Séance of Blake Manor inspired me, to both cover the game AND to trawl through hours of 60’s British horror TV and a Stewart Lee documentary in service of putting the sound together.

In which former Dialogue Tree guest and all round gaming goldmine @monolithfiji.bsky.social guests on the occasionally unhinged, always entertaining, @nintendormant.bsky.social. Does he pitch Pilotwings as an online hero shooter with no planes? Let’s find out together!

Brighton Pier!
A 3 month residency in Japan!
Jeffrey Lewis!

Had a blast with this one. Edie is good vibes all round, and hey, it turns out I like rhythm games, especially if they look like this.

I was so disengaged from gaming for so long that my 3 most played games on 3DS were Mii Maker, Sound and the eShop, 2 of which I have no recollection of ever opening.
