Extremely proud of the title “How to lose a culture war” & of the connections we make to FOSTA/SESTA & fears of reproductive futures reimagined.

Short, free to read and hopefully provocative.

New piece in @dialoguesdigsoc.bsky.social: “Digital Nationalism in China: Expression, Propaganda, and Soft Authoritarianism”. It shows how digital nationalism in China works as soft authoritarianism, blending control with participatory propaganda. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

we can learn more about emergent technofascist formations by looking at the ordinary digital infrastructures of state violence than the spectacular fantasies of some Silicon Valley tech bros.

New piece on technofascism out in @dialoguesdigsoc.bsky.social.

🖨️ I've had the pleasure of responding to an insightful article in Dialogues on Digital Society that considers the role of algorithms in public opinion formation. The journal actively invites scholarly commentary on its articles – a somewhat unusual format for me.
