I had a good time in Rome, but being at Thought Bubble is reminding me that the real fun for me isn’t in traveling solo and seeing the sights but in seeing people I like. Anyway, time for day two

chris ware caveman comic. caveman goes out to hunt with his buddies and while hunting he speaks with his buddy about the second thoughts he’s been having about Everything and how he just wants to kind of fuck off. then at the end he returns with a deer and has to pretend he’s happy to see his family

I can respect the desire to uplift and promote but if you are afraid to say a lukewarm (let alone bad) word—or even to get too technical/specific in your praise—then you should not call yourself a “critic”/“reviewer” because what you are doing is essentially robbing yourself of actual insight

Harold Gray: wretched opinions… great cartooning, unfortunately
I am reading some Little Orphan Annie comic strips from 1947 and this dude just had his head ripped right off. No blood though. Guess that would have been too gruesome.
