Software for Fun - skill issue
@di-caverna.bsky.social
Floating freely, software for fun, cats, my family, my town, my bike, sometime games, that's all.

Truth, freedom then peace.
Nvidia works well with Linux, this was a very old problem.

My 2nd corvette attempt, I like it but the front is, maybe, still too flat. Access ramps placement is, I think, original.

Lots of "switched to Linux" announcements...

You have really switched to #Linux when you have not booted into windoze for, at least, 6 months.

Some random suggestions for 1st time #Linux Mint users:

1) Create 2 different partitions for / and /home.
2) Make a 2nd user on your pc, if something goes wrong with the 1st one you can still login with the 2nd and fix things.
3) Initialize Timeshift to make system backups at least weekly.

Random software recommendation: PlantUML.

If you need to create UML diagrams (also a lot of non-UML) then you should definitely look into this one.

It can be used on the web, stand-alone or (my preferred) as an Eclipse plugin.

plantuml.com

Easily create beautiful UML Diagrams from simple textual description. There are also numerous kind of available diagrams. It's also possible to export images in PNG, LaTeX, EPS, SVG.

Asked ChatGPT: "could you suggest a way to avoid all the AI features enforced in windows?"

Option 6 is nice 😀

I can't wait to see this new wonder, for a laugh of course.

Switched to #Linux Mint back in 2017 and not regretting one moment.

I think I will start blocking all those accounts with the words #linux and #plague in the same post.

My prevision, with #gnome and #xde making #wayland mandatory: those who actually need to USE their computer will rush to #cinnamon and #xfce because those will still support #x11 sessions.

In 18 more years it is possible it will leave alpha stage but not sure.

Main difference between Windows and Linux: Windows users are diffident of updates, Linux user look forward to updates.

Expectations!

Good news for users with very recent HW. Kernel 6.14 is available on Linux Mint from the update manager.

Gave it a try on a new PC, no problems: ASUS TUF GAMING X870-PLUS WIFI, AMD 9700x, 4060TI, Eth, WiFi, everything works.

Totally not an evil place.

Best #linux feature?

Knowing that your stuff is exactly and only under /home/ instead of the "somewhere" that is the new normal.

You are responsible for it and fully in control.

My latest base on "Luna Paradiso" (reachable from the Anomaly), it is named "No Man's Museum" and includes: central park, museum, church, disco bar, hotel, temple of Atlas, spaceport, public teleport and industrial area storing 3 different resources.

Just 2500 parts.

Just built a nice new PC for development and gaming. AMD 9700x, MB ASUS AM5 with chipset X870, 32 GB of DDR5, NVIDIA 4060 TI, Samsung 990pro 2TB.

All the latest technology basically: #linux #linuxmint installed in under 5 minutes and running at 1st try without even seeing the famous "command line".
