Next week we mark the 80th year since these events which caused ~250,000 deaths by years end

I have been quietly contemplating the 80th anniversary of Trinity - the first nuclear bomb test

All my people who knew that day, or knew the days to come in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, have now passed. I begged them to them tell me what they felt and thought when they first learned of nuclear weapons..

80 years ago, the Trinity explosion was carried out in secret. Local communities were not informed. No warnings. No protections. No consent.

Generations of Indigenous and local communities continue to suffer the consequences of this violence.
