Insane article. The vast majority of this increase is because we were exposed to burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s our generation’s agent orange.

As a burn pit veteran myself, the economist is absolutely wrong here. My guess is there were no burn pit vets on the board that wrote this

I can’t love this enough. First of all, they seem to be just messing with us. Secondly that ‘80s fashion is making a comeback. And third Dead Salmon Hat is a great band name. Nature is weird and I’ll never get tired of animal shenanigans.

On Halloween I carve a pumpkin and seal him in a jar with soil from my compost bin. My students and I watch him “melt down” and the seeds sprout and become vines all in his self-contained biosphere. The fungus is winning the right now.
