They definitely helped us reach a higher level. But these are Conte's first 10 PL games (before we signed them on Jan.31).

Nuno avg = 1.5 ppg & -0.40 xGDif

Under Conte, it shot up to 2.1 ppg & +1.2 xGDif.

Opponents definitely played a part, but that's still insane.

As an aside, this May 22, 2022 NLD was the last good one. Feels like a different lifetime now.

"Just like under Nuno."

To me, this is the fundamental question: are we in a scenario like with Nuno where the squad has huge potential that can be unlocked with a quick fix, like the turnaround we saw when we sacked Nuno and hired Conte?

Or are things fundamentally more broken?

Thank you, The Transfer Flow, for capturing my current frustrations with Tottenham Hotspur's issues:
• Recruitment this summer got some big names but weird fits
• Changing managers isn't a quick fix

A long range strike followed by defeat in a drawn out turf war against a bunkered defense. We’re so back, babyyyyy

I love COYSky because you’ll see an innocuous post, then a collapsed thread, this something like this from @hal.thelastboyscout.uk.

I think we’ll learn a lot more about this team in the month of December than we did from Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG

I would like to nominate this absolute banger for COYSKY book club.

I would ask that this analysis includes the xG and shot disparity. Game state dictated much of this, sure, but the system seems like it did enough to get a win.
November 24, 2025 at 3:08 AM
I would have confidently gotten Lewandowski and Lacazette wrong, but guessed at the last 3.

I think the thing I've learned about xG is that it's trained on these players. Even some of the best finishers are barely beating outpacing their xG.

I think Radu Drăgușin is perfectly suited for Thomas Frank’s system and will be very good playing in it.

Growing up, what moments in movies that traumatized you?

The knife fight scene in Saving Private Ryan haunts me to this day.

I’d want to double check game by game, but from memory, a lot of his best saves came from Bournemouth, City, and Chelsea. Only his City performance led to more points. Apart from that, you could say we were a tad fortunate to beat Leeds and Everton, but unlucky to lose at Villa.

Opta’s ranks Copenhagen as the 96th best club in the world, two places below LAFC in the MLS.

Wolves are the lowest ranked PL team at 62. But Coventry City (71) are the only Championship rated club above them.

So maybe this is like a very good FA Cup win against a top Championship side?

Roger Martin wrote this great strategy piece about how to win... in business. BUT I think it's a perfect read for thinking about Tottenham.

The framework is a solid cascading set of choices that help align aspirations, strategy, and tactics.
