Could it be that young people don't like what *passes* as democracy these days and has really nothing democratic to it (choice between bad and worst, concentration of wealth and media ownership, authoritarian crackdowns on freedoms etc)?

As a student interested in discursive and rhetorical social psychology, I often struggled with the analysis. There were few practical guides on how to do it. Now, exactly 3 years later, we have outlined a pragmatic three-step approach to the critical discursive psychological analysis.

A fear I have about the current interest in AI is that it risks reifying debates about tech & democracy. Because AI is imagined as a pervasive and omnipotent non-human actor. Very generic questions like "what will AI do to democracy?" risk diverting attention from real issues: the actors behind AI.

“Experiments are worse than worthless since by breaking up the structure of social action they destroy the phenomena under study.”

Don’t hold back, Rom, tell us what you really think!
"Remember they are wasting their time and that since their work is literally worthless, they should be regarded with a kind of sadness." - have added a letter from Rom Harré to MarkMcDermott to his tribute… likely of interest to #PsySciSky qual methods in particular!

So when experimental social psychologists began to diagnose the reasons for the replicability crisis, they ignored the fact that people had been pointing out the problems with experimental social psychology since the early 70s. It was as though this was a newly discovered problem.
