Not sure why I didn’t realize this sooner, but Apple Music will render Atmos to stereo if you force Atmos always on in the Apple Music settings. Atmos versions, when available, can have much better mastering than the default, which is often dynamically compressed to death to make it louder.

Some of the kids (early twenties) were watching Fury with Brad Pitt yesterday, so at dinner I asked them how they liked the war picture. Much amusement at my use of the word picture. Then after dinner, they wanted to watch After Hours. Heh.
