I don’t think people realize we’re entering an entirely new era where skill specialization < skill diversification.
You need cross-sector and cross-functional ability to compete let alone stand out.

To take it further…there’s nothing wrong with echo chambers as long as the dialogue is productive.
Some might say that productive vs reductive dialogue is “relative”, but theres a very clear line when you’re not being willfully ignorant.

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election.
Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

This era is strange because it is both socially/culturally regressive, yet technologically accelerationist.

So many media founders, CMOs, etc. got fat off of using inflated vanity metrics to justify increased funding/spending in the name of raising brand awareness and engagement without quantifying what *valuable* engagement is in relation to bottom-line impact.
