I guess we're doing this now.

Telecom and tech attorney, mother, wife, native Texan, trying hard to be the change I want to see in the world.
This is a necessary feature on Thanksgiving, when I can say, "The dishwasher only has 9 minutes left, then we can unload and re-load all the dinner dishes so no one has to hand wash anything."

Also, we were able to fit dinner, bread, and dessert plates for 15 in the bottom rack, which is a miracle.

A post-Thanksgiving note on the new dishwasher: The model we bought has a timer showing how much longer the current cycle will run. I viewed this as neat but kind of a gimmick when we chose this model. I was wrong.

And I guess I'm thankful that the guy who came out today gave us his honest opinion that throwing more money at this dishwasher is probably not a good idea. He endorsed our backup plan (buy a Bosch to be installed on Monday). I guess I get a new dishwasher for Christmas!

Your phone system does this because the FCC requires installers, operators, managers, and administrators of these kind of phone systems to send "central notification" of any call made to 911. (Hi! Telecom lawyer here, with a special expertise in 911!) But it probably doesn't have to be YOU.

So I guess for Thanksgiving, I'm thankful that the dishwasher breaking led us to discover the leak and the failing PRV. I'll be even more thankful if the appliance guys can come soon and fix the actual problem with this dishwasher, because I'm not hand washing 15 people's Thanksgiving dishes.

I am feeding 15 people on Thanksgiving.

Dishwasher still doesn't work, so now we think the "internal fill manifold" may be clogged. But it's Thursday afternoon and the appliance guys can't get anyone out here till Monday. They're trying to see if someone else can come out tomorrow, but they aren't super hopeful.

Plumber comes out. He says our pressure regulating valve is busted, and that our main water valve handle is broken. Also, we have a pretty significant leak at our main water valve. Let's fix all that - and go ahead and replace the dishwasher water supply line, too.

I think the hypothesis is sound but I have a sinking feeling that such consequences no longer exist.

This was my take:

After sleeping on it, I am now less angry and critical of the Dems who voted yes.

Why?

Because they know the GOP is not going to vote to continue ACA benefits. Not now, not ever.

So they didn't give up anything they were maybe somehow going to get.

I'm mad about the shut down and worried about healthcare, but not letting people starve is a pretty good reason to cave on this bureaucratic fight, the more I think about it. So just say that: Republicans wanted you to starve rather than compromise, so we let this one go.

Or maybe right outside, but it was a Baptist church in Texas so essentially the same.

A different great-grandfather was murdered in church by his best friend.

Turns out my great-grandfather, whose background was always a bit murky, abandoned his Jewish family (who eventually had him declared dead) and adopted an entirely new identity, ending up married to an Episcopalian socialite from Nashville and serving as mayor of my hometown in South Texas.
