The Southern Baptist Convention will go its own way on immigration policy, the denomination’s top public policy official said Wednesday, breaking ties with a coalition of other evangelical Christian bodies focused on the issue.

Southern Baptist Convention breaks with the Evangelical Immigration Table
(RNS)— The split reflects the dilemma immigration poses for evangelical leaders. Most evangelicals want reform that both secures the border and provides a path to citizenship — and want limited…

The remarks weren’t “about Charlie Kirk,” they were about how this administration is using Kirk’s death as an excuse to shut down critics … and they responded by proving him completely correct.

Joy Reid. Karen Attiah. Gene Robinson. Jonathan Capehart. There are lots of others. Circumstances differ. But really sad to see new organizations not keeping super-talented Black staffers. The news industry spent decades talking about diversity, improved some from 2014-2020 and is now going back.

Hakeem Jefferies’s team is now openly mocking fellow Democrats who are criticizing him for refusing to endorse the Democratic nominee for NYC mayor.

Democrat party is 30 points underwater. Mamdani is 16 points above water. Imagine the arrogance of being down nearly 50 points & still talking smack.

It was weirdly fitting that the Charlie Kirk murder blended into the 9/11 anniversary as once again Americans were told to “watch what they say”

Americans told to watch what we say about ‘free speech icon’ Charlie Kirk
Professors, teachers, journalists and others get canceled for what they said about right-wing free speech advocate Charlie Kirk.

Feel like I’m going insane with the revisionist history that Charlie Kirk fostered open debate. He chilled speech and his targeting of professors for wrongthink led to threats, harassment, and being forced out of their jobs. His legacy is chilling speech right now, about him

Maybe we could fix our country’s broken moral compass if New York Times writers would use “abhorrent” instead of “controversial” when clearly warranted.

One more thing: Being a "Debate me!" guy is not the same as genuinely believing in diversity of opinion; it comes from a belief that you can crush dissent by winning every argument, often with sophistry. Kirk started a McCarthyite website that targeted professors on the left. He was no pluralist...>

You can write this only if, by virtue of your income, identity, or both, you are utterly removed from the consequences of politics. To pretend that the racist, misogynistic, anti-gay vileness that Kirk spent his life spreading is secondary to the fact that he spread it "the right way" is appalling.

To be a political reporter in 2025, you have to be gullible enough to believe that a convicted felon who launched a violent coup attempt is worried about crime.

Or you just have to be willing to pretend you’re that gullible.

Either way, we deserve better.

The president is sending the military to control American cities and if you're a reporter who's framing that illegal power grab as "pushing the boundaries of constitutionality" or "acting boldly to fight crime" or whatever, please go find another line of work where you won't get us all killed.

I hope people realize how absolutely fucked this situation is.

This isn’t normal. People are resigning all over the place because the government is mishandling our data, ruining our public health services, and generally making Americans less safe.

Reasons for the arrests remain unclear after federal agents detained members of a private contractor crew during an ID check during the Bear Gulch Fire.

This is dangerous to the public’s safety!!

RFK Jr is driving this country towards an almost certain public health disaster.

If Democrats can’t stop it, at the very least they can get it on the record now that they wanted him gone and the GOP wanted him kept in.

Underline how they own the disasters to come. It’s Politics 101.
House Democrats could force a vote on impeaching RFK any time they want. Of course it would fail. But do you want to make an issue of it or not?
This is such a no-brainer that the lack of a coordinated response feels deeply damning. A Democratic leadership team that can't mobilize an instant all-hands-on-deck effort on RFK Jr. isn't a leadership team at all.
